Indio will have many of his original pieces of Yoruba inspired art work for sale as well as limited edition signed prints of select pieces. Indio uses a unique approach to wood-burning “Yoruba” images on reclaimed wood, and uses a variety of color sources created from cigar ashes, coffee grinds, spices, and food coloring, as well as traditional materials such as oil and acrylic paints. The transformed scraps of wood became dynamic mystical art pieces, inspired by his love for Santeria and the Yoruba pantheon, a syncretism of West African and Caribbean religions that have been influenced by Christianity.

Indio uses different sources for color, such as cigar and incense ashes, coffee grinds, wine, berries, spices and traditional mediums such as oil & acrylic based paints, polyurethane and different wood stains to add color.

Save your holiday shopping for the Bronx Museum’s 2nd Annual Holiday Market Weekend – and stop by La Reina’s booth to meet Indio, explore his art – and purchase work for the loved ones on your holiday shopping list!

The Bronx Museum’s Annual Holiday Market Weekend is a collaboration with, The South Bronx Farmer’s Market, THE POINT, and The Bronx Beer Hall. The Bronx Museum will feature more than 50 local artists, artisans, farmers, bakers, brewers, and more for a holiday market that is not to be missed.
